Privacy Policy

Revision App is designed to work primarily on your device. NexBulb Labs does not collect, sell, rent or share your personal data through the app. The app displays one slim Google AdMob banner. Google's advertising SDK processes limited device and usage information to deliver, measure, and protect ads.

1. Introduction

Revision App ("the app", "we") is a free, offline-first study app for spaced-repetition revision developed by NexBulb Labs. This policy explains how local study data and the app's advertising service handle data.

2. What the App Stores (On Your Device Only)

The app stores the following locally, using the device's app storage (Android Room database + Jetpack DataStore preferences):

Subjects, topics/revision items, and notes you create.
Review history and confidence ratings.
Settings: dark-mode preference, daily-reminder time, onboarding-completed flag.

This information never leaves your device unless you choose to export it.

3. Backups and Export (User-Initiated)

You can export your data to a JSON backup file or a CSV file using the Android system file picker. You choose where the file is saved (e.g. device storage or a cloud drive you select). The app does not upload these files anywhere itself; what happens to a file after you save it is governed by the destination you pick.

4. Advertising and Consent

The app uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) for one slim banner ad (standard BANNER size, 50dp height).
Google's SDK automatically processes information such as IP address (which can estimate general location), ad/app interactions, diagnostic information, and device or account identifiers for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention.
Advertising data is encrypted in transit. Revision App does not send subjects, topics, notes, review history, confidence ratings, or exported files to Google.
Where required, Google's User Messaging Platform asks for consent before ads are requested. A Settings entry lets eligible users revisit their privacy choices.

Google's handling of advertising data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. Google also publishes Mobile Ads data-disclosure details.

5. Permissions

Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — used only to show the optional local daily-revision reminder you can enable in Settings. No data is collected through this permission.
Internet and network state — used to request consent information and load, display, measure, and protect banner ads. Core study features remain usable offline.

The Google Mobile Ads SDK can add Android's advertising-ID permission to the merged app manifest. Users can reset or delete their advertising ID in Android settings.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Because all data is stored locally, you are in full control:

Delete individual subjects/topics inside the app (deleted items go to Archive and can be permanently removed there).
Uninstalling the app removes all app data from your device.

7. Children's Privacy

Revision App does not knowingly collect study content from children or transmit study content to advertising providers. The Play Console target-audience and ad-content settings must remain consistent with the audience selected for release.

8. Changes to this Policy

If the app's data practices or advertising SDK change, this policy and the Play Data Safety declaration will be reviewed and updated.
